CREATE: PRODUCT PIPELINE PROCESS

Working with a new company that had a long list of baseline features that needed to be developed to achieve product stability, there was a minimal product pipeline process. Fortunately, a feature request forum and some internal product discovery process had been in place since company inception.

A small team and I took this nascent process and added components and process to bring it in to being as a full product pipeline - from request analysis through to feature development. The building blocks we put together included:

  1. Product backlog review: review, clarification and filing of feature requests

  2. Review and promotion of feature: impact, confidence, ease, clarity and engineer and design analysis

  3. Feature proposal and consensus gathering

  4. Solution discovery and spec writing

  5. Development, testing, release planning and post-mortems
